Songwriting Group Classes

I offer small group classes on a regular basis online, and in person in the SF bay area. These are 6 session classes on weekday evenings where we spend our time reviewing the songs of the participants in a loving and supportive way. I point out the things I think the writer has done really well as well as mentioning some areas that might benefit from another look lyrically and musically.

In the end, a song is an artistic endeavor and it’s up to the writer to decide what the finished song is like. I try to provide food for thought and along the way teach songwriters to utilize all the choices they have. Although my opinion is an educated one, it’s still my opinion. My suggestions are “what you could do, not what you should do”.

Everyone participates in this process and the goal is for all of us to learn something from each song we look at. Some people play live during class and some send in pre-recorded files as well as lyric sheets for us to look at during review. Some classes are geared towards advanced writers and some target beginning to intermediate writers and offer a bit more lecture time about the various facets of songwriting.

Typically the class has between 10 to 12 writers in it and we get to 6 or so songs in the three hour class. The schedule for classes varies but most often each class is every other week. The cost is $325 total for the 6 week course. If you have any questions email me or just click below to see the calendar and sign up.
